通过多轮整合优化，全省自然保护地拟整合为132个，保护范围更科学，管理体系更高效，总面积占全省国土面积的23.15%，初步构建起“国家公园—自然保护区—自然公园”完整体系。在此框架下，90%以上的国家重点保护野生动植物及其栖息地得到系统保护。临夏地质公园获批成为“世界地质公园”，和政哺乳动物化石群、张掖彩丘成功列入世界遗产预备名录，陇原生态瑰宝的全球价值日益彰显。
